Deb Sandvik, President & CEO

Deb joined Renewed as President & CEO in June 2017, after serving as Director of Annual Giving & Special Events for Gilda’s Club Nashville for ten years. She brings more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, marketing and fundraising, corporate consulting, and the entertainment industry.

Deb previously owned a successful entertainment consulting company, and has worked with Gilda’s Club Worldwide, Disney Special Events, Event 360, and several music icons including Pink Floyd, Tina Turner, Phil Collins, Genesis, and Gloria Estefan. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Illinois State University – where she was an alumna initiate of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Deb is active in Nashville CABLE, and serves on the endowment committee for Norman Barr Camp. Deb is a native of Chicago, Illinois – and also lived in London and Los Angeles before relocating to Nashville in 2005.

2Courtney Grimes, LCSW, Clinical Director

Courtney was introduced to Renewed in 2005 during her recovery from an eating disorder. She has been involved (and in love) with the organization ever since. Courtney was the keynote speaker for Evening of Song and Story in 2009, has served on the Renewed Membership Committee and serves as lead trainer for the Renewed Speakers Bureau. She created and facilitates the Southeast’s only free support group for college aged women (CO-ED) who are in recovery, and currently acts as Tennessee’s eating disorder referral clinician, connecting patients with recovery resources statewide.

Courtney has been a part of the Nashville music industry since 1999, working with record labels such as Sony Records and DreamWorks Records and with artists such as Toby Keith, Jessica Andrews, Daryl Worley, Mary Chapin Carpenter, LeAnn Rimes and Lyle Lovett. She attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Belmont University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Opera Performance. After leaving the music industry, she received a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. In addition to her work with Renewed, Courtney is a psychotherapist in private practice with Symmetry Counseling Services. She is originally from Atlanta, Georgia.

Lauran joined Renewed in 2013. Lauran is a proud alumna of the University of Tennessee as well as the University of South Carolina where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and her Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communication, respectively.

Having previously worked in marketing with several nonprofit organizations, she is excited to be part of the Renewed team and enjoys using her skills and experience to help others overcome hardship. Lauran is from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and currently lives in Nashville with her husband and their Saint Bernard, Maxwell.

Ashton Judy, Outreach & Development Coordinator

Ashton is originally from Orlando, FL and moved to Nashville to study Psychology at Belmont University. During her time there, she studied schadenfreude, mindfulness, and pro-social behavior. She graduated in 2016. She has a served at Illuminate Academy, Renewal House, and the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. She joined the Renewed team in 2018 as the Outreach & Development Coordinator. She is excited to be hands-on in the growth of Renewed in the Middle Tennessee community!

Peggy Miller, Intern

Peggy Miller is currently a senior at Lipscomb University. She is majoring in English writing and minoring in psychology and dance, hoping to eventually pursue a career in clinical mental health counseling. Peggy is excited to be an intern for Renewed this year as she works with them on a service learning project and her honors thesis. Renewed has been an important part of her own recovery, and she is excited to give back to this amazing organization!
