Meet the Facilitator
Megan Barbee, LPC, MHSP (temp) found her passion for healing when she began advocating for mental health awareness on campus while in college pursuing a dance degree. This brought her to Lipscomb University in Nashville where she gained a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She was able to see her passions come full circle when providing treatment and doing mental health education/outreach in both a college counseling center and a community healthcare agency. Megan specializes in trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, family of origin/relational issues, and life transitions.
Megan finds herself most drawn to helping others heal from trauma. As a lifelong dancer and creative, Megan has seen firsthand how integral the arts and our bodies are to our healing process. Combining her dance background with her graduate training in Play/Expressive Arts therapy and her continuing education in somatic therapies, she believes that play and the arts are an integral part of healing our bodies from trauma. She also believes that our emotions and narratives live in our body, teaching her clients while learning herself how to listen for our cues and emotions, and care for ourselves holistically. Megan’s therapeutic style is primarily relational- she believes being present in a safe relationship is one of the most important parts of the healing process.
When she isn’t providing therapy, she can be found teaching dance to kids of all ages, seeking the closest water and sunshine, buying more books than she has time to read, and spending time with her loved ones.
