Eating disorders are an isolating and lonely experience. Renewed, in an effort to promote hope, help and support, offers Partners in Recovery, a program that pairs an individual in recovery with someone working towards recovery. Persons in the PIR program can establish a relationship of trust so that the person struggling has someone to turn to for friendship, guidance and a listening ear. Sometimes just having someone who “has been there” is a tremendous help in decreasing feelings of isolation.
Participation in the PIR program requires a therapist referral. Our hope is that clients may find the non-professional guidance and knowing support from “someone who understands” to be helpful. This program is not intended to take the place of therapy, and we require all program participants to actively work with a treatment provider while being a part of PIR. Partners are able to help individuals who are at least 18 years of age and are currently struggling with an eating disorder. Clients who wish to participate in this program should speak with their therapist.
